Chapter 7

Riley sat up straight in her seat as Jerrod emerged from the cockpit. The hair on the back of her neck stood up as Happy’s snarling followed Jerrod out, cut off only because he closed the door behind him. She wondered exactly how long it would take for the physic link to establish itself. Not that she really wanted to pry into what took place in the cockpit. Oh who was she kidding, she wanted to know what was said so badly it was killing her.

“Is everything okay?” She asked standing up to meet him halfway. The urge to reach out and stroke his face was so overwhelming that she almost gave in. Instead, she folded her arms over her chest. She knew nothing between them was settled yet. It had all just taken a backseat to the trouble they were in. Eventually, they were going to have to talk about it, but she wasn’t too eager for that to happen.

“Sure, everything is just peachy. We’ve all been ordered to get some rest while we still can. Apparently Jade has called all reinforcements to London. Shit’s hit the fan there, and we won’t be resting much after we land.” Jerrod said, brushing past her to sit down in the seat farthest from where she was sitting. Darrell raised a brow, the silver that pierced it glinting in the soft light.

“So, being shuttled to London had nothing to do with princess’ brilliant display last night? It figures, Jade says jump everyone has to jump. I still don’t see what’s so great about that bitch anyway. She’s done nothing but bring the world down around our ears from the minute she resurfaced.” Darrell snarled and took to pacing the length of the cabin.

“If you had bothered to be there with us fighting instead of hiding behind that fucking bar you would know.” Jerrod shot back at him. Darrell stopped mid-pace and turned on Jerrod.

“You were a precious little rich boy, you don’t know anything.” Darrell said with frightening calm. To Riley’s surprise, instead of Darrell ripping out Jerrod’s throat, he spun on his heel and disappeared to the cockpit. Riley let loose a pent-up breath she didn’t realized she was holding and sat down next to Jerrod. He looked like he was getting ready to bolt from the chair, so Riley did the only thing she could think of to keep him there. She leaned over and crushed her lips to his.

Jerrod became rigid at first, putting his hands between them as if to push her away. She braced herself for his rejection, but it never came. The hands he wedged between them began a slow path from her stomach to the bottom swells of her breasts. They lingered there stroking the yielding curve in a soft and gentle caress. She moaned at the delicious sensation of having his hands on her. Her wolf went crazy inside her head whimpering for what they both wanted more than life its self.

She deepened the kiss, stroking her tongue against the seam of his lips until he opened to her.
